Fight for Peace (FFP) is based in Newham, home to the UK’s third-highest levels of child poverty and youth violence. In 2011, 11.6% of young people ages 16 to 24 in the Royal Docks ward, Newham, had either never worked or were unemployed long-term.
FFP provides young people involved in crime and violence the opportunities and supportive influences to realise their full potential. They achieve this through boxing and martial arts integrated with education and personal development.
The programme has managed to support 1,000 youths since 2007, with 94% of its graduates progressing to pathways of education, employment or training.
